Eternal Egypt

"If i have ever found a moon beautiful, it was because of the pyramids"

The gift of NILE!
I was always fascinated with Hiostory,it was one of my favorite subjects during my under-grads, I studied world history but I always was interested in EGYPT, it was not only due to biblical reasons but also due to their culture, tradition and of course the Pyramids.

I really wish I existed during the flourishing years of Egyptian civilization. I still wonder how they built the great pyramids, each cube of stone used weighed more than a ton and trust me these pyramids are tall and keeping in mind the fact that there were no cranes or trailers used it was a marvelous piece of architecture.

There are many civilizations which existed but I don’t think any civilization attracted me than this great civilization which existed next to the Nile.
Egyptians were unique and worshipped the Sun god-RA. There is a lot to write about Egypt, I’ll definitely write about it whenever I feel like!heliographic as a way to communicate. I would definitely love to travel to Egypt some day and travel on the path that Moses once walked!

'By 3000 B.C. the art of Egypt was so ripe and so far advanced that it is surprising to find any student of early culture proposing that the crude contemporary art of the early Babylonians is the product of a civilization earlier than that of the Nile'

the Real BECKHAM

I'm so unlucky!
the whole world watches the football matches and i dont have a TV in my life!
yesterday was Englands match against Ecuador....Becham's Free kick was magical!
Check out these details about the match!Go England go!

STUTTGART, Jun 25: David Beckham scored with a free kick in the 60th minute Sunday to lead England to a 1-0 win over Ecuador and a spot in the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
Beckham sent in a curling free kick from about 25 meters (yards) that beat diving goalkeeper Christian Mora.
England will face either the Netherlands or Portugal on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

Beckham became the first Englishman to score in three World Cups - he converted a penalty kick against Argentina in Japan four years back and curled in a free kick against Colombia in France in 1998.
The England captain, who had worn short sleeves in the first half, switched to long sleeves after the break. Shortly after the goal, he threw up on the field.
For an hour, the English aimlessly passed the ball, but the game then turned after Edwin Tenorio fouled Frank Lampard outside the penalty area.
Beckham planted the ball ever so carefully as four Ecuadoreans formed a defensive wall.

GOAL DETAILS!!
With expert precision, he got the ball over them. Mora, his cheeks painted with the colors of Ecuador's yellow-blue-and-red flag, dived to his right but could not stop the ball, which went in off the post.
Beckham ran wildly toward the center of the field, hooking an arm around Ashley Cole.

While Beckham is the driving force of its offence, his goals have been sparse of late. It was just his 17th in 93 international appearances, and he ended a 13-match scoreless streak since his last goal on March 30, 2005.

Angels and Demons

Angels and Demons_Dan Brown
(Posted by steve at 03:01 pm on December 18th, 2005)

Been reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons.well like all browns novels the story starts with an high profile signature type of murder and the murderer leaves behind an cryptic messages.i donot want to reveal the whole story now but i felt its again well written novel, intelligently composed like the da vinci code.

Digital fortress was a disappointment after reading da vinci code.i havent read disception point yet if anyone has read it please share your views.but the ambigrams presented in angels and demons are awesome and really stunned me.well some really good stuff from it,here's the best of Angel's and Demons.hope you like it!

WHAT IS AN AMBIGRAM?
An ambigram is a word written in such a way that it is legible both rightside-up and upside-down. Ambigrams are an ancient artform and play heavily into the mysteries of Angels & Demons.
ambi means "both"
gram means "word"

The secret brotherhood of the ILLUMINATI understood the symmetry of ambigrams.

The Admiral's daughter

Another one from the old blog:

The Admiral's daughter
Posted by steve at 07:42 pm on July 2nd, 2005.

I was not so keen in reading this particular novel (The admiral’s daughter by Victoria fyodorova) but since I had lots of time few months back before exams I thought I shall complete reading The Admiral’s daughter, I had asked one of my classmates to get me any book to read and she got me this novel. First thing I thought was that there was a movie named after the novel? But that was The General’s Daughter, starring John travolta, it was about the rape & murder of this lady who was the general’s daughter. Anyway I thought this novel might be the source of that movie but when I read the cover summary it was a different story. its written by Victoria fyodorova and its her story about herself, her mother and her search for her real father, Jackson tate and a first hand description of Russia under the communist regime.i don’t know why I am writing about this novel but I liked the story of this lady. since it was a non-fiction I liked to know what happened to this person?
it’s a well narrated story and a gory description of the War.
I think I took about 3 weeks time to finish it on and off!
Its my first non-fiction novel which I have read.the following are the incerpts from the internet about Victoria and her novel mainly from google directed links. if any one have read this novel I invite them to add their views and if they have any further information about Victoria fyodorova can be shared.

Extracts :

Delacorte press (1979.372 pages)
Fyodorova was the child of American naval officer Jackson Tate and Russian actress Zoya Fyodorova, from a brief affair at the end of World War II. When she was a year old her mother was imprisoned and baby Victoria was raised in exile by her aunt for the next eight years.
When the young Russian actress found the American father she had never known, it seemed like the happy ending to a Hollywood scenario. “The Love That Conquered the Kremlin” and “Admiral Meets Love Child” blazed the headlines in thousands of newspapers around the world. But the full story, as Victoria Fyodorova tells it, was far more complex. The product of a brief affair between naval officer Jackson Tate and Zoya Fyodorova, one of Russia’s most beloved movie stars, Victoria (named for V-E Day, when she was conceived) was a year old when her mother was imprisoned and she was raised in exile for the next eight years by her aunt. Following her reunion with her mother, Victoria grew up to follow in her footsteps by studying acting. But she always wanted to find the father she had never known.
She rejoined her mother on her release and followed her footsteps into film.Victoria fyodorova has appeared in two American films: Target (1985) and Crime and Punishment (1970) and in the television series MacGyver (1986). She also has a career as a hand painter of fine furniture.

1.Chiken eggs only!(2-3 eggs, depending on much you eat!)
2.oil in the cup (150-250ml)

Goan Blues

June 09, 2006, Fri
Came back today at 9am from Goa, it was a trip full of all mixed emotions for me!
I was really unwell on Friday; I had a prolonged cold and fever regularly since the past few days. Was also thinking to scrap the plan to go to goa. Friday didn’t come to office and we were supposed to leave at 545pm, reached office at around 520. by the time we could leave pune it was around 630-7 I guess. Reached panvel McDonalds at around 845ish had two burgers and hot cappuccino and waited for 2 long hours for the bus to come.

June 10, 2006, sat

Morning stopped at COUNTRYSIDE, some resort on the way to Goa for breakfast!
Atlas the bus reached at around 1230 am and was on the way to goa, stop somewhere but don’t know where! It was much easier for us to reach goa by pune but since the arrangement was done in such a way that we had to reach panvel and go to goa that meant more time spent on the road I guess a travel of 10-11 hrs we were making it for 16-17hrs flat!!!Heck!!!
I dozed off! when I got up at around 515am it was drizzling heavily and thought the whole holiday will go for a toss and was thinking that will land up spending more time in the hotel room itself!
Around 11 am I guess I reached Park Hyatt the view of the hotel itself was WOW! I was little skeptical coz was thinking south goa is much happening that north goa!
Hyatt is very well maintained and an eco-friendly place, spreading across 45 acres!
And plus point is that they have their own private beach so no worries about crazy crowds and people trying to sell stuff to you which you don’t want to…
The whole place is very serene and a very good place for couples!

The rooms are awesome! I love the wall hangings in my room! Will post the snaps soon!
During all this I was down with lethal cold and slight fever, (infact even now I have!)
Didn’t do anything much took bath and was watching TV, some movie on star movies about the burmuda triangle!

Evening had a good hot cuppa coffee and snacks and went for the presentations and talent hunt contests!i was in no mood to go and act on the stage was very reluctant but had to go…..wish I had my way I would have ran away from it! =(
Night was young and the mood was party was set in with all drink and some really really good food on the table!!
Had a decent Bacardi and little food (since was too late they were winding up so had to hurry!)
Was in the pool later till 2am and was really exhausted!
Atlas went to sleep eating an apple!

June 11, 2006, sun

Sunday morning it was a perfect time to go to church! Infact I wanted to since I don’t know the South goa so much didn’t want to explore!
Had breakfast at THE Village, which is located inside Hyatt, a fix of Indian and westerner breakfast!

Later on went to sightseeing! It was all big rubbish!!!Went to some temple some mangashwar with a half dead guide!
After this adventure went to panjim market!!!!God knows for what joy we went there!
Everything was closed there since it was a Sunday!!!Except for few foreigners hanging out on the road with Bacardi breezers in their hands!
I got my favorite of the Breezers-the cranberry flavors! Took couple of snaps here!
Got back to hotel by 2 and had lunch, changed and was all set to go for the games which were organized!
It was really cool! Had lots of fun and it started raining!!!!And went into the sea and was swimming in the waters till the sun set and even the moon had shown up! I guess till 8pm I was playing in the water! Cool! You can play for limitless hours in the water!

Had dinner and didn’t want to party at all!!!Was feeling feverish again due to playing in the water and having a long hot water bath!
Slept off talking on the phone!

June 12, 2006, Mon

Finally the day had come to leave!
I was down with a very heavy cold and was feeling all symptoms of getting an major fever or an viral….

Checked out at 12 and was waiting for the bus till 2-230pm atlas went to have lunch in Martin’s Corner at Betalbatim, which is nearby to Hyatt!its really an amazing place and the food is really economical with rates starting with Rs60-200! This place is regularly haunted by all the bollywood celebrities and is very famous in Northern Goa. On the entrance one can see the photographs of the rich and famous who once had dinned in this place!
Finaly left from Martins at 330 reached Panjim at 545pm had a 30min break and was off to Mumbai again!!!

June 13, 2006, Tue
Reached Mumbai around 545am and left immediately to pune reached at 9am and exhausted and totally beaten…………now sitting in the office after that long exhausting journey! Work sucks!
Miss Goa! I always had good memories of goa and I have always come back with a hope that I’m gonna make it again next year atleast once!
Hey goa, promising you that I’ll back again to be with you….
Until then……….sayonara!

Runaway Train

About Soul Asylum
Soul Asylum has the distinction of being the only band to emerge from the '80s Minneapolis indie rock scene, which also spawned the Replacements and Husker Du, to go on to mainstream fame. Yet success often comes with a price, as Soul Asylum's 1993 commercial breakthrough left many of their old fans cold. With its 1984 debut Say What You Will..., produced by Husker Du's Bob Mould, Soul Asylum initially seemed like a pale combination of Husker Du and the Replacements. While the band wasn't incredibly original at this point, it managed to capture the energy and spirit of both. What a change a few years makes. By 1986, Soul Asylum had moved from the shadow of their hometown cohorts (although Mould was still producing). The hard-rocking Made To Be Broken showed that Soul Asylum were real contenders to the alternative rock throne. In guitarists Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy, the band had two capable songwriters and vocalists (although Pirner usually took the lead role), while drummer Grant Young and bassist Karl Mueller made up a rock solid rhythm section.

i love this song alot, can listen to it ANYDAY ANYTIME!got to hear this song one midnight on MTV!here are the lyrics means alot to me!Grapevine says that lots of kids who ran way from home in America in 80's returned home after listening to this song!that called an impact!

RUNAWAY TRAIN
Call you up in the middle of the night
Like a firefly without a light
You were there like a slow torch burning
I was a key that could use a little turning
So tired that I couldn't even sleep
So many secrets I couldn't keep
Promised myself I wouldn't weep
One more promise I couldn't keep

It seems no one can help me now
I'm in too deep
There's no way out
This time I have really led myself astray

CHORUS
Runaway train never going back
Wrong way on a one way track
Seems like I should be getting somewhere
Somehow I'm neither here no there

Can you help me remember how to smile
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded
Life's mystery seems so faded

I can go where no one else can go
I know what no one else knows
Here I am just drownin' in the rain
With a ticket for a runaway train

Everything is cut and dry
Day and night, earth and sky
Somehow I just don't believe it

CHORUS

Bought a ticket for a runaway train
Like a madman laughin' at the rain
Little out of touch, little insane
Just easier than dealing with the pain

Runaway train never comin' back
Runaway train tearin' up the track
Runaway train burnin' in my veins
Runaway but it always seems the same!

Inside man

Today its been such a lazy day!dont feel like doing anywork i think its the way you look at things and at present i dont want to look at anything =)!
i'm down with a bad cold and its really annoying to go on with it.Went to watch MI:3/the Omen, day before yersterday night and landed up watching INSIDE MAN.
was not so interested in watching this movie but had to got tickets for only this movie.
well, i really liked this movie and after PHONEBOOTH, i think i liked a movie was this one.I never heard of this guy called Clive Owen!(wont be suprised if he is owen wilsons cousin),he plays the lead as a bank robber along with Denzel Washington who plays an NYPD crisis negotiator.

jodie foster looks alegant and charmining.
its got an Hindi movie sound track from Dil se....the song really sounds cool in the movie! The movie looks like its an bank robbery movie or the motive behind the robbery looks like Million of $ but actually its not!so watch the movie to know the real story!a really well-made movie with lots of intelligence, wits.
can watch this movie once again.....wont mind it actually!!
waiting to see The Omen very soon....

that's me in the corner!that's me in the spot light!

This pic was taken god knows when but i guess in april 2006 one bright summer morning!!

leonardo da vinci the culprit???

This is another write up from my previous blog........written in july last year(2005), will write soon about the movie-DA VINCI CODE by RON HOWARD,watched it last week TWICE!!!

leonardo da vinci the culprit???

Posted by steve at 06:20 pm on July 6th, 2005
THE DA VINCI CODE!
Media blew it out of proportion and the word of mouth spread like wild fire and a simple unrealistic and a tricky work of fiction became the best seller and the hottest selling novel of this year, yea, I’m talking about the Davinci code written by Dan brown. Brown has managed to create a masterpiece of blunders without any proper analysis of facts, facts which he has written so tactfully that a layman who do not know the bible or the history of Christianity he will be royally carried away by this novel. I give full credits to Dan brown he no wonder is a master story teller and the novel itself is a very gripping to one’s senses. it’s a very, very well narrated stuff! The characters of Robert Langdon, silas, the French cop and the lady cryptologist, sophie nevue(hope i got her spell right!!!!!) who’s grand father has been murdered are also well created and has a unique view points about themselves! It’s a book worth reading but not worth the information which can be believed!
May 2006 the movie version of the davinci code will be released and Academy award winner tom hanks is going to play the lead! it will b a good movie to watch, But I guess the movie will be criticized by the orthodox and sensitive Christian organizations for sure! I finished reading davinci code in about 2 weeks time since I was working it too a much longer time than before!
But one thing I assure u that the next time you look at the painting of the last supper or the great mona lisa or any painting by Leonardo da vinci you’ll have a different opinion about them! !

Have a good time reading !

children of lesser God.

This article was originally posted in my old blog, i thought will carry it here.

children..........
Posted by stevecentral at 08:04 pm on September 18th, 2005.

Children of lesser Gods!

Children are the most vunerable and the most affected due to the stupidy of we adults always.children do suffer in every civilized and un-civilized socities in all countries.children do grow up in the worst humane conditions in most underdeveloped and developing countries like india.the stastic are always on paper and things remain the same like ever before.children here do almost all kinds of work to just have a square meal.i myself have seen these kids in the most pathetic conditions they are human too.....but why do they do that.when i got a chance to speak to a kid who was working in a tea stall near my college his answer was very simple that he can't afford to go to school and his parents need the money to run their family.and the poor kid was send to do the cleaning work and the worst thing is that the kids parents have taken an advance for the employment of the kid for next 6 months.doesnt it sound like somekind of bounded labour business.i really dont know what the government does and the so called NGO's which do exist i think in this country.i just hope that the NGO's arent following our politians lifestyles!are there anyone who works for the society?social workers???they get paid more than a software pro and the work they do.......almost invisible.wake up guys you have to make a difference i hope someone reads this stuff.child labour exist almost in every state of our country and every city.child labour does include very bizzare works a child takes up which includes prostitution also.there is a real need to protect children from such troubles.we,had a good life doent mean that every one is as lucky as us,the needs now to support or lend an helping hand to protect those who are suffering........
i just hope thats it isn't too late before the actions taken............
