The dream begins.

GOAL!
(Dear sats missed you alot while watching this movie....)
I had missed watching this movie in the theatre; I remember when last time I had gone to Goa this movie was playing in Inox, panjim. This Saturday I found this CD and watched this movie, it’s really a good movie about this young man called Santiago Munez, a Mexican illegally migrant. His love for the name gets him noticed by an ex-New castle Footballer called Glen, his turbulent relationship with his father makes him leave US and go the land where football is followed like an religion-England……he lands up as a big failure initially but his determination to make it big keeps him going on and on……9he has asthma too)
He finally makes his way to the Newcastle United Football Club and saves his team from falling out of the championship….

Bag of surprises in this movie is the guest appearances of football stars like… David Beckham, Raul, Zidane.
The movie is well made and atleast I didn’t get bored watching it….
And another thing I liked was the sound track; it really makes an impact on the emotions which have to been conveyed out of the character. Santiago, the lead resembles little of Rooney and Little of Robbie Williams. Enjoy the movie and let me know what did you score?
SYNOPSIS from www.ropeofsilicon.com :
How far would you go to live your dream? When Santiago Munez (Kuno Becker) is given the chance of a lifetime, he must leave his family, his life in Los Angeles and everything that he knows to travel halfway around the globe to England and into a completely foreign world -- the exciting, fast-paced and glamorous world of international soccer.
As an underprivileged Mexican-American immigrant growing up in the poor section of Los Angeles, Santiago seemed destined to follow his father's path in life: laboring at menial jobs to earn just enough money to support his family. Naturally gifted, his amazing talent on the soccer field was wasted in recreation league games while he could only dream of playing on the world stage of professional soccer. But when a British scout (Stephen Dillane) discovers his talent and gets him a tryout with one of England's premier soccer clubs, Newcastle United, Santiago must choose between his father's fate and his own destiny.
Now alone in a world where soccer is a religion and players are gods, this underdog must prove that he's got the talent and determination to make it amongst the best in the world.
Goal! The Dream Begins takes audiences into the electrifying, heart-pounding action of the world's most popular sport and features cameos from soccer's hottest superstars such as David Beckham, Zinedine Zidane, Raul Gonzales Blanco and Newcastle captain Alan Shearer.

Hey stephen, after knowing your reviews on the movie and its story, I can see that its Indian adaptation is "Iqbal".

I am a great fan of Nagesh Kukkanoor. He claims that his movies have HIS stories, works of his imaginations. Well, after knowing the story of "Goal", I find that there are losta similarities between the two stories, with Iqbal going a step further with its protagonist as physically challenged, deaf and dumb.

Anyways, nice to know of the movie "Goal". Looking forward to more such stuff out here .... :-)
